Southern African Training Program (SATP1)
1971 – 1974
The Southern African Training Program (SATP) provided priority development-related training to refugees from Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe at African and U.S. educational institutions from 1976 to 1994. SATP served over 1,000 participants and the program's graduates are represented in both the private and public sector throughout the Southern African region.
From 1984 to 1994, AAI sponsored SASPOST, a newsletter for refugee students in the United States. SASPOST served to strengthen networks amongst exiles and provide information about developments in Southern Africa and guidance for repatriation. The final issue was used to reach South African voters in the United States.
