Phillips Petroleum Training Program (PPTP)

1993 - 1996

Between 1993 and 1996, AAI administered the Phillips Petroleum Training Program (PPTP), which provided scholarships for students from Cameroon to obtain master’s degrees in petroleum, coal, and gas engineering as well as geophysics and seismology. Funded by the Phillips Petroleum Company, PPTP was part of an overall exploration agreement between the Phillips Petroleum Company and the Government of Cameroon. AAI organized participant orientations and English language training as well as monitored student progress during their academic studies. Upon successful completion of their programs, many of the students assumed positions with the National Society of Hydrocarbons, a government-owned petroleum corporation located in Yaounde, Cameroon.
