Mozambique Participant Training Program (MPTP)
AAI’s Mozambique office administers the Mozambique Participant Training Program (MPTP). The program was launched in January 2006 and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development's (USAID) Mozambique office. MPTP is a five-year, $5 million program that provides short-term training for Mozambicans in Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa, and the United States as well as long-term training in higher education institutions primarily in South Africa in the fields of economics and agricultural management. MPTP also develops internship and grant programs that benefit both MPTP training participants as well as other USAID/Mozambique target beneficiaries in Mozambique.
MPTP reflects AAI’s commitment to capacity-building and training a critical component of USAID’s Strategic Plan for Mozambique’s development. In addition, MPTP also builds the capacity of local technical schools and universities in Mozambique in order to provide training to an even greater number of individuals.
- Since 2006, NGSTP has provided scholarships for 17 Mozambicans (as of December 2007).
