AAI convened a one-day forum featuring Walter Kansteiner, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, and senior members of the Bush Administration to explore the current state and future of U.S.-Africa relations on issues of counter-terrorism, healthcare, AIDS, and trade. Guest speakers included: Walter Kansteiner, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs; Jendayi Frazier, Senior Director for African Affairs, National Security Council; Constance Newman, Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Africa, U.S. Agency for International Development; Scott Evertz Director, White House Office on National AIDS Policy; Theresa Whelan, Director for African Affairs, U.S. Department of Defense; and Rosa M. Whitaker, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Africa.
