South Africa 10 Years After Apartheid: Where Do We Go From Here—Economically, Politically and Socially?
In this seminar, panelist spoke to the progress that has been made in South Africa on the social, political and economic fronts since the end of apartheid and the numerous challenges that are ahead. Speakers included H.E. Barbara Masekela, Ambassador from South Africa to the United States; Florizelle Liser, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Africa; Daniel O'Flaherty, Executive Director, U.S. South Africa Business Council.
The panelists made a strong case, calling for greater investment in South Africa not only by the United States, but the other major industrialized nations as well. In addition, the importance of extending AGOA was promoted as well as the need to adequately address the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS not only in South Africa, but throughout the continent.
