Reception for the United States Institute of Peace
With the support of former AAI Trustee William Rhodes, AAI hosted a reception on behalf of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) at the Citibank Executive Center in New York City. USIP is an independent, nonpartisan federal institution created by Congress in 1984. Headed by Korea specialist and former US Ambassador to the Philippines Richard Solomon, its mission is to promote the prevention, management, and peaceful resolution of international conflicts, and it meets its congressional mandate through an array of programs including research grants, fellowships, professional training, education programs from high school through graduate school, conferences and workshops, library services, and publications. This well-attended reception served to introduce USIP’s work—especially in Africa—to a New York audience.
